SOURDOUGH COFFEE CAKE WITH WALNUT STREUSEL is the perfect solution for rising bread demand.

My kids love sourdough coffee cake with walnut streusel. It is one of our favorite desserts, and so easy to make. We usually make it on Sundays, to use up the last of the fridge’s provisions.

The coffee cake is lightly sweetened with sugar and stirred together with a few eggs, a bit of baking soda, and a tablespoon of baking powder. Then the batter is spooned into a 9-inch cake pan and baked at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

The cake is a delicious, fluffy, golden brown. The streusel is made from ground walnuts, sugar, and cinnamon, and is packed into the center of the cake before it is frosted. The streusel is simply whipped together with some butter and confectioners’ sugar until light and fluffy.

My children can’t get enough of this cake, and they ask for it every time we make it. I think it’s because of the walnut streusel, which is a great flavor addition. It’s also a fairly healthy dessert, since it is made from whole grains and nuts.
